KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an encounter in the old city area on Tuesday night, police said.

The Napier police said the encounter with the robbers tookplace near Kashti Chowk, where after an exchange of gunfire, one suspect, identified as Owais, was gunned down while his accomplice managed to escape from the spot.

The police claimed to have recov-ered one pistol and snatched cell phones from his custody. The police said the killed suspect had a past criminal record as there were five FIRs registered against him at different police stations.-Staff Reporter
