GUJR AT: An 18-year-old seminary student whose death was said to be caused by falling from stairs five days ago, had actually been murdered by another student over brawl occurred between them in Small Industrial Estate area of the city.
Police said that initially the seminary administration found Zaid Muslim, 18, of Gujranwala dead near the kitchen and it had been assumed that the student might have died after falling from the stairs on March 28 last. His family was informed by the head of the seminary about the incident and the deceased was buried in a graveyard near the seminary.
A few days later the seminary administration came to know that the deceased had actually been murdered by another student, Junaid Ibrar, who nursed grudge after both the students had quarreled.Ibrarclubbed Zaid to death.
Police said Mufti Sohaib, the caretaker of the seminary, suspect`s father Ibrar Ahmed and some notables of the area visited the family of the deceased and sought pardon for the incident.
Shamshad Bano, the mother of the deceased boy, lodged a formal complaint with the Lorry Adda police for the registration of a murder case on April 2.
Policeregisteredacase againstthe suspectunder section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code and Ibrar Ahmed and Mufti Sohaib under section 201 of PPC.
The main suspect is yet to be arrested and police claimed that they were conducting raids to capture him.
Police have also filed an application with the Gujrat district and sessions judge for the exhumation ofthe body of the deceased tohave an autopsy.
The case has been referred to the area magistrate who has fixed April 5 the next date of hearing and also summoned the complainant.
