KARAK: The office-bearers of Chountra Welfare Organisation and Lawagher Movement here on Sunday demanded of the federal government to withdraw the decision of increase in prices of petroleum products as it would affect the poor people.
The demand was made in a joint meeting held here with rights activist Waheed Shah in the chair.
The participants said that the government had been taking steps contrary to the PTPs election promises. They said that prices of all daily use commodities had increased af ter the surge in oil prices.
They resolved to hold an anti-government protest if the demand was not accepted.
CHECKPOST SOUGHT: Residents of Kurd, Showanki Deta Mine and adjacent localities have demanded of the police department to set up a checkpost on Kurd-Mianwali road. They said that the hilly areas provided safe havens to the criminals of Mianwali and Karak districts.
Gul Janan, Ahmad Nawaz and others told mediapersons here on Sunday that proclaimed offenders and other criminals had made hideouts in the hilly area. The residents claimed that the criminals sneaked into the hilly belt from Punjab province and also indulge in criminal activities in their localities.Correspondent
