KARACHI: At least 12 people sustained injuries in a blast of an explosive device thrown by miscreants in the Singulane area of Lyari on Friday evening,police said.

They added that miscreants threw, what they described as a `cracker`, which landed in the busy market, causing injuries to one dozen people.

They were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi from where nine people were discharged after first aid, said City SSP Faizullah Korejo.

The condition of three others was stated to beout of danger.

The police officer said there was no specific target of the cracker.

He added that the incident was also not linked with extortion or gang warfare between rival gangs.

He believed that drug peddlers might be involved in the attack because recently two alleged drug peddlers, both belonging to the Hindu community had been killed owing to fighting between the peddlers.-Staff Reporter
