RCB cuts 550 illegal water connections

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) during its ongoing campaign against defaulters managed to recover over Rs12 million from water consumers last month and snapped 550 illegal water connections.

According to RCB spokesman Qaiser Mahmood, the board launched the campaign to recover water dues outstanding against the consumers and also disconnected illegal connections in different areas.

The water branch conducted operations in Chor, Misrial Road, Naseerabad, Seham, Pirwadhai Mor, People Colony, Chungi Number 22, Tench Bhatta and other areas.

He said the water branch`s services were being improved to facilitate the consumers and all the record had been computerised.

Now, more than 50,000 consum-ers are getting computerised water bills, he added.

The RCB received 565 complaints in April regarding sanitation, water supply and streetlights, and redressed 411 of them.

He said a complaint centre had been established on the directive of the cantonment executive officer to facilitate the residents in registering complaints about sanitation, water supply, streetlights and illegal constructions.

He said 173 complaints were lodged about electricity problems out of which 116 were resolved while 177 water supply complaints were lodged of which 111 were addressed.

Similarly, the residents filed 215 complaints about sanitation and the department resolved 184 of them.

He said work was underway to resolve the remaining complaints.
