QUETTA: The Central Working Committee of the National Awami Party has demanded early enforcement of the country`s permanent Constitution and holding of general elections under a caretaker Government.

The Committee, which concluded its twoday deliberations here yesterday [May 4] [under] the presidentship of party chief Mr Abdul Wali Khan, resolved to continue to struggle for further democratisation of the Constitution and removing `anti-people and anti-democratic` provisions from the Constitution.

The various resolutions adopted at the meeting were announced at a Press conference in Quetta today [May 5]. ... A resolution taking stock of the country`s economic condition, bitterly criticised the agrarian and industrial policies of the present Government and expressed grave concern over the `fast deteriorating economic conditions`. The Committee called upon all democratic-minded parties, students, peasants and workers to unitedly fight soaring prices of essential commodities.

The NAP Central Working Committee took exception to a recent statement of the Shahanshah of Iran and demanded the National Assembly ... immediately be convened to discuss the matter. Staff Correspondent
