SAHIWAL: The Fruit Merchant Association and the Fruit Retailer Association have reached an agreement after a deadlock of two weeks.
Retailers`leader Shaikh Usman told Dawn that merchants` leader SarwarJatala accepted their demands and now the old levy -Rs10 and Rs5 for each quintal and lunger (collection of bananas) -has been restored which will be implemented from Wednesday (today).
It is said that Rs40 to Rs50 million worth of fruit is sold in Sahiwal markets daily.
