40-bed hospital at Police Lines

LA HORE: A 40-bed hospital will be set up in the Police Lines for police employees and their families and Rs106.52 million will be spent on it.

The hospital will be completed in two years.

This was said at a meeting on Wednesday. Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique presided over the meeting.

Health Director Dr Abdul Majeed Chaudhry gave presentation on the PC-I of the hospital. Building for the hospital is available in the Police Lines.

The hospital will consist of 40 beds and it will be a referralhospitalwith thefacilitiesof CT scan,Ultrasound, ECG, X-rays, pathology Lab and other diagnostics.

Dr Chaudhry said specialist doctors of surgery, gynecology, peads, medicines and other fields would be posted at the hospital. The hospital will cater to 400 outdoor patients every day.

GANG BUSTED: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a four-member gang of robbers and recovered cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs1 million.

According to a news release, on the directions of Capital City Police Officer Amin Wains, Saddar Division Superintendent of Police Zahid Nawaz Marwat constituted operations and investigation team to arrest thoseinvolved in robberies and thefts.

A team led by Chuhng Station House Officer Javed Siddique carried out raids in dif ferent areas and arrested Arsalan Masih alias Raza and his accomplices Usman, Binyamin and Abid. Police also recovered cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs1 million. The suspects confessed to more than 34 cases across the city.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Haider Ashraf, heading the operations wing, on Wednesday announced cash reward of Rs5,000 for 15 policemen each for foiling robberies in separate areas of the city.

According to a news release, a patrolling team stopped two suspects in Millat Park police area, who opened fire and in the crossfire, one of the suspects Ahsan Khalid was killed while the other escaped.

In another incident, two policemen were patrolling in Qila Gujjar Singh when a robber snatched a motorcycle from a person at gunpoint. The policemen chased the robber, arrested him and recovered the vehicle.

In the third incident, on Aug 3, two armed men were looting people in Shahdara when a police party led by a station house officer reached the spot and foiled the robbery. The suspects opened fire on police, which was retaliated. One of the suspects was killed and the other escaped.

The DIG appreciated the performance of police and awarded them cash prizes and commendatory certificates.
