LAHORE: The capital city police officer (CCPO) has warned beat incharges and constables of strict action if any of them was found involved in patronising drug peddlers, gambling and prostitution dens.
Amin Wains directed the beat coordinators to keep an eye on the houses in their respective areas to know about activities of the residents and if they found anything wrong they should inform their station house officers (SHOs).
The CCPO was addressing the beat coordinators of Sabzazar, Hanjarwal and Mustafa Town onWednesday.
DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG (Investigation) Sultan Chaudhry,SeniorSuperintendentof Police (SSP) (Administration) Hassan Sukhera, CIA SP Umar Virk, SP (Operations) Zahid Nawaz Marwat and SP (Investigation) Amara Ather were also present on the occasion.
The CCPO said beat officers should provide information about the drug peddlers, tenants, gamblers and prostitution dens to their officers so that action could be taken against the violators.
DIG Operations said motorcycles, wireless sets, arms and handcuffs had been provided to the beat incharges and constables so that theycould perform their duty in a more efficient way. He said beat incharges and constables should play their role to curb crime and to maintain peace and tranquility.
ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday arrested a Lesco subdivisional officer (SDO) for bribe.
According to the FIA, Thokar Niaz Beg SDO Nadeem Akhtar demanded Rs50,000 for the installation of a new meter. An FIA team arrested him red-handed in the presence of a judicial magistrate and registered a case against him.
The FIA also detected electricity theft in a shoe factory in Datanagar and registered a case against the owner.
