Arrest warrants for Aliya Hamza in Jinnah House trial

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday issued arrest warrants of PTl former MNA Aliya Hamza Malik and five other suspects in Jinnah House attack case for skipping frequent hearings of the trial.

The court directed the police to ensure the appearance of the suspects on the next hearing on Dec 19.

Other suspects include Farhan Bokhari, Atif Munir, Sagheer Kamal, Abbas Ali and Imran.

Sarwar Road police had registered a case against the PTl leaders and workers for attacking and vandalising the corps commander house last year during the protests of May 9 against the arrest of former premier Imran Khan by the NAB in a graft case.

INDICTMENT: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday indicted incarcerated PTl Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, PTl Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid and others in yet another case of May 9 riots.

ATC-l Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted hearings of multiple cases at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

A prosecutor presented the charge sheet in FIR 108/2023 related to burning police vehicles near Jinnah House.

The PTl leaders also including Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema and former provincial minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed pleaded not guilty and opted to contest the trial.

The judge directed the prosecution to produce its witnesses on Dec 12.

These PTl leaders have already been indicted in two cases of May 9 protests.

The judge also directed the prosecution to ensure the presence of all suspects on the next hearing for indictment in case of attack on Shadman police station.
