You never find the government-approved rate list at chicken sellers` shops. Theyovercharge consumers without any fear of punishment. This is happening owing to the negligence of authorities concerned.
In the Soldier Bazaar area (where I live), chicken is being sold for Rs320 per kg at one shop, while at another for Rs350. Can the commissioner of Karachi tell people the actual price of chicken? The department concerned should pay a surprise visit to check at what price vendors are selling chicken.
It is not only chicken but almost every household and edible item like rice, milk, pulses, sugar, cooking oil, ghee, tea and shampoo, is being sold at a price which is much higher than the approved rate.
The commissioner must take notice as people have been sufferingforlong and ensure goods are sold at governmentapproved rates, especially during Ramazan.
