Release of Pakistanis sought from Indonesian jail

PESHAWAR: The family members of two young men Faig Akhtar and Riaz, who are undergoing imprisonment in Indonesia under charges of keeping narcotics, have appealed to Indonesian government to release the prisoners.

Speaking at a joint press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Sunday, Talat Bibi, mother of Faig Akhtar of Abdara, and Ahmed Din, father of Riaz of Tehkal Peshawar, said that their sons were innocent and had done nothing wrong but police arrested them.

`My son Faig Akhtar was working as of fice boy in Indonesia but he was picked by law enforcers for unknown reasons, the woman said. Similarly, Ahmed Din said that his son Riaz was associated with furniture business. He was arrested by National Narcotics Agency on Jan 27, 2016. He said that the law enforcers recovered narcotics from a generator, which was owned by the factory owners and his son did not have anything to do with it.

They said that both the young men were innocent and had gone to Indonesia to earn livelihood for their families.

They appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take personal interest in the cases of both Pakistanis and help them release at the earliest. Bureau Report
