CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that continuation of democracy would ensure the progress and development of the country.
However, he said that vital national issues had been ignored in the past which badly affected the interests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He was addressing a public meeting in Shakoor union council of Tangi tehsil in connection with his election campaign here on Saturday.
He hoped that the court judgment against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would not affect the smooth process of general elections.
Mr Sherpao said that continuation of democracy would usher in a new era of development in the country. He said that his party would not allow any move against holding of transparent and timely elections.
The QWP chief said that PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif`s statement regarding continuation of the election campaign after the verdict was a good gesture.
He lamented unannounced and prolonged loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying that the province was the largest producer of electricity in the country.
He criticised the PTI chairman for turning the province into wreckage due to lack of vision and good governance.
He said that the PTI leadership`s real face had already been exposed and they were answerable to the people for destroying the province`s institutions.
He said that PTI had failed to fulfil the promises it had made with the people in the previous elections.
He claimed that QWP would fight for the rights of Pakhtuns and raise its voice against exploitation of the people on every platform.
He added that his party would emerge as a clear winner in the coming general elections.
QWP provincial chairman Sikandar Sherpao also addressed the meeting. On this occasion, Mazdoor Kisan Party central chairman Afzal Khamoosh and QWP leadership announced to support each other in the general elections.
