SAHIWAL: Assistant Commissioner Mahim Wahid suspended two patwaris of Harappa for involvement in the financial embezzlement of Rs1.7m.
Two separate inquiries carried out by Naib Tehsildar Muhammad Awaiz had found the patwaris, Muhammad Rafiq and Uzair Ahmed, guilty.
Rafiq did transfer of land under ‘oral transfers’ which were banned since Dec 31, 2025. Such transfers led to failure to recover government dues, resulting in financial losses of Rs413,147 to the national exchequer.
Similarly, Patwari Uzair was found registering fake transfers and embezzling govern-ment fees.
The inquiry confirmed losses of Rs1.24m caused by him.
Meanwhile, on the direction of the Punjab Chief Secretary, the Directorate of Civil Defense has suspended 37 officers, instructors, and clerical staff for 90 daysonchargesofcorruption, inefficiency, misconduct and misuse of authority.
The civil defense officers and clerical staff were suspended in more than 15 districts of Punjab, including Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Lahore, Toba Tek Singh, Okara, Mianwali, Khushab, Kasur, Shaikhupura, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Rajanpur, Multan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Gujrat and etc.
