MINGORA: Students and teachers on Saturday protested outside the Swat Press Club against the proposed privatisation of government colleges of technology (GCTs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Faculty members and students of different government colleges of technology in various districts of Malakand division participated in the agitation.
The protesters demanded of the provincial government to withdraw the decision in the best interest of students.
They held placards and shouted slogans against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf- led provincial government.
Speaking on the occasion, Abid Alam, a faculty member, said the decision to privatise GCTs would deprive the poor students of their education, claiming that the decision was meant to serve the interests of a few people. Arshad Ali, another faculty member, said that no teacher or student was willing to let the GCTs run by the private sector. — Correspondent
