Farmers` conference rejects `anti-Sindh` projects

MIRPURKHAS: Speakers at a conference condemned federal government`s plan to build six canals on Indus River and said that Sindhis had outright rejected the canals` project, amendments to Irsa Act and rising religious extremism.

Leaders of nationalist parties, civil society, social workers and citizens said at the `Hari Muzahimat Tehreek` conference held here on Saturday that they would not accept anti-Sindh projects and announced that every individual living in Sindh should join the protest campaign to express their resentment.Local leaders of Sindh United Party, Lala Azhar Pathan and Masroor Shah, said that Sindh`s land showered love on all people living here but today `we all should stand up to offer a stiff resistance to those hatching conspiracies against our land` and ensure its safety.

Anwer Nohani and senior lawyer Ali Hassan Chandio deplored that despite the fact the government knew Sindhis would oppose the canals project it was trying to dig the canals which would render agriculturelandsin Sindhbarren.

Wajid Leghari, Mazhar Talpur, Ibrahim Kunbhar, Hameed and Nisar Leghari warned that they would never accept anti-Sindh projects.
