Navy`s census efforts reviewed

KARACHI: Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar visited Sukkur and Khairpur on Wednesday to interact with the troops deployed for census duties in various areas and was apprised about details of the deployment of navy personnel assisting the process in Thatta, Tharparkar, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Khairpur and Naushahro Feroz districts.

He also met local and district administration officers and notables who praised the navy`s ef forts for rendering active support for the smooth conduct of the census.The commander expressed his satisfaction over the Pakistan Navy`s role to ensure credibility, transparency and security of the operation in various areas of Sindh.

The 6th population and housing census, the country`s largest yet, is in its second phase.

Navy personnel, in collaboration with the army and the government, have been deployed for enumeration duties and security of the field staff.

The hrst phase of the census began on March 15 and was successfully completed on April 15, in which around 3,000 navy personnel were deployed. The second phase will culminate on May 25.
