Steps taken to contain virus in Balochistan reviewed

QUET TA: The Balochistan Command Operation Centre at its meeting on Sunday reviewed the overall situation of the coronavirus outbreak in Quetta and other districts of the province.
The meeting, which was presided over by secretary of sports Imran Gichki, was informed about steps that have been taken by authorities for stopping the spread of the Covid-19 in the province.
The officials informed the meeting that the centre prepared reports regularly on new cases of Covid-19. They said the centre was working in coordination with other government departments, non-governmental organisations and the University of Balochistan to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The meeting was also informed that research worl( for finding a treatment of coronavirus was in progress.
Teachers and researchers of the University of Balochistan and other universities were conducting the research. In this regard, some research reports have recently been prepared by researchers of the Balochistan University and the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering & Management Sciences.
The officials said that all data regarding treatment and deaths of coronavirus patients was being maintained while data regarding its spread was also being collected by using scientific methods.
They said reports regarding the preparation of a strategy to deal with the situation were being submitted to the provincial government.
The meeting expressed satisfaction that Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani was directly supervising the performance of the Centre and providing guidance to it.
The meeting was informed that the chief secretary was also monitoring the performance of the centre.
The Balochistan Command and Operations Centre is working round the clock and the chief minister has appreciated its performance.
Participants of the meeting stressed the need for making a strategy to deal with any emergency situation. They called for people to strictly follow all SOPs (standard operating procedures) during the smart lockdown in the province.
The officials briefed the meeting on the government`s policy for dealing with the Covid-19 crisis. They said the policy had been formulated keeping in view the National Action Plan of the World Health Organisation and the federal government.
It was observed in the meeting the lockdown had caused economic problems for people and the business community in the province was badly affected. The meeting was informed that the government was working on plans for improving the economic situation.
