Hike marks blood donor day

ISLAMABAD: The Safe Blood Transfusion Programme, the government and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society held a `Hike for Life` hiking tour on Thursday to mark World Blood Donor Day 2017.

The hike was held on Trail III in the Margalla Hills, and was attended by a large number of people.

A representative of the Pakistan Health Research Council, Dr Arif Nadeem Saqib, said on the occasion that every individual can play a role in helping others in emergencies by donating blood.

`It is important to give blood regularly, so that the blood stuck remains sufficient before an emergency arises,` he added.

Prizes were also awarded to the first three hikers to reach the destination. -A Reporter
