KARAK: The local chapter of Patwaris and Qanoongoyan Association staged a rally here on Wednesday to demand upgradation.
The rally was led by district president of association Mohammad Ayaz and general secretary Javed Iqbal.
The protesting revenue officials demanded of the government to upgrade the scale of Patwaris from 5 to 9 and that of Qnoongoyan from 9 to 11.
They also demanded increase in their allowances.
They said that their allowances had not been reviewed since the British era. They also expressed displeasure over registration of FIRs against the revenue officials and demanded withdrawal of cases against two tehsildars of the district.
The protesters announced to observe a three-day pen down strike. They threatened to launch a protest across the province if their demands were not accepted by the government.
PUBLIC MEETING: The elected representatives of the district failed to resolve the basic problems of the people, said former provincial minister Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel.
Addressing a public meeting in Dela Mela area here on Wednesday, said that the production of oil from the wells discovered in Karak reached 40,000 barrels per day and huge reserves of gas were discovered in the district.
JUI-F district president Hafiz Ibn-i-Ameen, Haji Abdur Rehman and Khattak Ittehad district president Maulana Mirzageem also spoke on the occasion.
CHEQUES: Ten young men of the district were given cheques under the PM`s Youth Self Employment Scheme here on Wednesday.
Regional head of National Bank of Pakistan Mohammad Naeemullah Jan, NBP Karak branch manager Gul Mat Ali Khan Khattak and district incharge of the scheme Afaq Anwar were present on the occasion. -Correspondent
