KOHAT: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagrahassaidthatfutureofthecountry depended on the role and services the youth would contribute in different fields. He said that education was the best way to bring a change in the life standard of the people.
The governor said this while addressing the 9th Convocation of the Kohat University of Science and Technology on its premises on Tuesday.
Beside others, former governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Commissioner Mussarat Hussain Shah, ex-nazim Asad Khan, local elders and parents of the students were present on the occasion.
The governor said: `We have achieved many milestones since our independence and many more are tobe surmounted.` He said that based on available potentials many more projects of could be materialised.
He said that the youth constituted over 60 per cent of the country`s population who were supposed to make a major contribution to better future for the country. Congratulating the graduates, the governor advised them to always remain honest and dedicated to their work and profession.
Earlier, the governor gave away degrees and prizes to the graduating students. Vice-chancellor Prof Jameel Ahmad presented annual report of the institution.
KILLED: A woman and her daughter were killed inside their home in Darpatti area of Lachi tehsil over amarriage dispute by four masked men on Tuesday.
The police said that one Umer Saeed after exchanging hot words with Sahiba Bibi for not giving hand of her daughter (27) shot them dead and fled along with his three accomplices. The bodies were taken to the Lachi civil hospital. The report was registered by one Raheel.
In another case, a man killed his friend and injured wife over suspicion of illicit relations between them.
The wounded wife told the police that her husband Izhar Khan invited his friend Shafaat Khan to lunch.
There he accused him of having relations with her and killed him by firing.
