Police to launch apps for cases monitoring, protecting tourists

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani has given approval to launching three applications for digital monitoring of cases, computerisation of Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) and protection and convenience of tourists.

The apps will be jointly developed by the IT wing of the police and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). Af ter giving approval in a meeting on Wednesday, the IGP said that all three apps --monitoring app, PER app and Punjab Police Tourist Facilitation App -should be activated in a week.

He added that a feature should also be added to the PER App that locks the ACR formin the computer of any of ficer who delays writing the reports of his subordinates for as long as he completes the reports. The act of delaying ACRs would be treated as dishonesty, he added.

IT Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Waqas Nazir briefed the IGP about the apps. He said the `Monitoring Application for Supervisory Officers` was meant for digital monitoring of cases under which monitoring officers will monitor the performance, patrolling and investigation of their subordinate staff.

He said the `PER App` was being introduced in the next few days for the evaluation of ACRs of Grade 16 or above through which the entire process of compiling the reports will be automated.

The `Punjab Police Tourist Facilitation App`is also in the final stages of designing for the protection and convenience of foreign and local tourists to Pakistan, which will be inaugurated by the IGP very soon, the DIG added.

After the meeting, the IGP inaugurated a `Software Development Room` at the Central Police Office where DIG Nazir briefed him about the establishment and aims and objectives of the room. Staff Reporter
