Eight cops suspended

LAHORE: The city police chief paid a surprise visit to five checkpostsandissued orders for suspension of eight policemen for intimidating citizens and demanding bribe from them under the pretext of checking documents on Monday.
According to a spokesman, Capital City Police Officer Chauhdry Shafique checked working of deployed and patrolling officials of Muhafiz Forcein areas of Iqbal Town, Model Town, Multan Road, Thokar Niaz Beg and Raiwind Road.
The officials who were suspended from service were SI Muhammad Kashif, ASI Karamat Ali, Head Constable Amanat Ali, and constables Ashig Husain, Liaqat Zain, Muhammad Rafique, Muhammad Rizwan and Raees Ahmad. On the other hand, the CCPO awarded Rs2,000 cash and certificates to seven police officials for performing their duty well.
