Puta demands early release of teachers’ salary

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar University Teachers’ Association (Puta) has condemned the continued administrative indifference and financial mismanagement in the varsity.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Puta said that it was deeply alarming that the faculty were still awaiting their salaries for August.

Salary was not a privilege; rather, it was a fundamental right of faculty, who have families and dependents to support.

The association expressed serious concern over the persistent failure of the university treasurer to effectively manage the varsity’s financial affairs.

The repeated delays in the release of salaries and routine financial matters reflect a disturbing lack of competence and accountability, it stated.

At a time when the varsity should be focused on welcoming and facilitating new students, administrative apathy is instead creating problems for students, disrupting routine affairs, and demoralising faculty. The continued neglect is pushing the university towards financial, administrative, and ultimately academic paralysis, the statement said.

Puta warned that faculty cannot be expected to sustain academic activities while being denied their basic financial rights. Bureau Report
