Two men shot dead in Orangi

KARACHl: Two men were shot dead while a third person was hurt in Orangi Town on Monday evening, according to police and hospital officials.

They added that four suspects riding on two motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire on people in Sector-L of Orangi Town, causing critical injuries to three persons.

The wounded persons were transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where two of them, identified as Ghulam Husain and Deedar Husain, died during treatment, said additional police surgeon, Dr Rohina Hasan.

The injured victim, identified as Mumtaz Ali, was admitted for treatment.

Orangi Town police said the deceased had come to Khairabad restaurant while the injured had come to meet Salahuddin, owner of a medical store. They were all sitting outside the medical store when unknown gunmen targeted them.

`The double murder appeared to be outcome of some property dispute as per initial investigation,` said Karachi West DIG Zulfiqar Larik.

Guard hurt in botched LNH robbery bid A security guard was shot at and wounded by suspected robbers on facing resistance in a botched robbery attempt at a hospital on Monday morning, according to police. A cashier accompanied by a guard and a supervisor took out Rs6.2 million from the reception area of Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) to deposit at the nearby administration block at 9.30am as a matter of routine when the two robbers struck, said the police.
