Lawmakers` capacity building discussed

PESHAWAR: UNDP`s Chief Technical Adviser Darren Nance called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Anisa Zeb Tahirl(heli here on Tuesday and discussed with her matters and efforts related to the capacity building of lawmakers. Ms Tahirkheli is also the chairperson of the steering committee for capacity building of members the provincial assembly.

According to a statement, the steering committee`s secretary Ataullah Khan and representatives of UNDP were also present at the meeting. On this occasion, the minister said that different trainings of capacity building and e-governance were imparted to the MPAs wherein the lawmakers had been educated in IT programmes, communication process, English language, parliamentary tips and legislative procedures.

She stated that various visits of MPAs for witnessing the procedures of parliaments abroad were a unique programme which introduced the KP lawmakers to global framework.

The minister said that all the proceedings of KP Assembly and MPAs business had been converted to paperless and computerised system which was a milestone towards e-governance in the assembly. She said that more support for the capacity building of lawmakers in various sectors was needed as they wanted to provide trainings to the members of standing committees.

On this occasion, Darren Nance said that the capacity building of KP lawmakers would be continued in future. Bureau Report
