Hanging of two convicts stayed

RAWALPINDI: Hanging of two convicts, who were scheduled to be executed in Adiala jail on Tuesday, was stayed after the deceased and their families patched up while another murder convict will be executed in district jail Attock.

According to the police, Faisal Aleem, a resident of Tench Bhatta, was convicted in a murder case registered with R.A.

Bazar police in 1995.

The two parties informed the jail authorities about their deal on Monday night.

The execution of Iqbal Azeem was also stayed on the orders of the sessions judge Rawalpindi after the two sides reached a compromise. He was convicted in a murder case registered on June 26, 2004.

However, Zahid Mehmood, a resident of Khanpur, who was awarded death sentence in a robbery/murder case registered with the Sial Police Attock on December 25, 2005 will be executed in Attock jail on Tuesday morning.

His family has been trying to reach an agreement with the heirs of the deceased. However, arrangements by the Attock jail authorities had been made to execute the murder convict.
