UMERKOT: Two siblings, a girl and her younger brother, drowned and their cousin was rescued when they fell into a pond in Jamal Khan Lashari village on Thursday.

The children were playing on the pond`s embankment when they slipped into it deep waters.

People present nearby rushed to rescue them after hearing their cries.

They took all of them out in unconscious condition and rushed them to the nearest Kunri taluka hospital where doctors confirmed the death of Afshan, 10, and her brother Mohammad Umer, 8, the only children of Adil Lashari.

Their cousin identified as Bushra, 10,who was rescued alive, was still in a critical condition.

The bodies were handed over to heirs after completion of legal formalities.

Man dies in accident A man died when a Jeep car hit his motorcycle on Umerkot-Chhor road near Mondhal stop on Thursday. Dilawar Mangrio, 52, was returning to Jumoon Mangrio village from Umerl(ot when he met the accident. He sustained major injuries to his head and died instantly, said doctors at district headquarters hospital where he was shifted after the accident.

The body was handed over to heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities. The Jeep`s driver managed to escape leaving behind the vehicle which was impounded by police.
