Khowaja on Friday visited the family of Tania Khaskhell a young woman who was shot dead in her house on Saturday (Sept 9) by an influential figure of Jhangara-Bajara town of Sehwan taluka and condoled her death with her parents and other relatives. The CM also ordered immediate arrest of the 1(iller, as well the SHO of the area for his failure to act promptly to save her life.

Mr Shah assured the family that justice would be done to the bereaved family and the culprits would be taken to task.

According to a handout issued on Friday, the chief minister also ordered arrest of SHO Mohammed Ali Khaskheli (currently placedunder suspension) and asked the IGP to ensure all legal assistance to be provided to the aggrieved family.

The CM was informed that some influential persons belonging to a Syed family were protecting the alleged killer, Shabbir Nohani (better known as Khan Nohani), who used their vehicle to proceed to the aggrieved family`s house on Sept 9. He was further informed that Nohani shot dead the young woman after her parents turned down his proposal for their daughter.

The family and other residents of the neighbourhood told the CM that the area police were aware of the whereabouts of the killer but they did not lay hands on him as he was being protected by some influential figures of the area. He was informed that the murder and police`s reluctance to arrest the killer triggered a series of protests by civil society organisations in differentparts ofthe province.CM Shah condemned the murder in strong words and described it as a tragic incident. He said the killer must be arrested irrespective of his clout.

He said he would personally monitor the investigation and asked the IGP to keep him abreast of the progress of the case. Clarifying some reports published in a section of Press, Murad All Shah explained that Jhnagra-Bajara was not part of his constituency though its people belonged to the native village of his late father, Syed Abdullah Shah, a former chief minister of Sindh. He also rejected the report suggesting Khan Nohani`s political affiliation with the PPP. `He [Nohani] is a criminal and the son of a notorious dacoit, who was also arrested during the tenure of my father as the CM,` he said.

Mr Shah asked the IGP to ensure protection and security to the bereaved family and arrest of Nohani without any delay.
