Post offices to collect Wasa bills

2017-06-17
RAWALPINDI: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and the Pakistan Post on Thursday signed an agreement under which consumers can pay their monthly water and sewerage bill at any post office in Rawalpindi.

Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood and Deputy Post Master General Samiullah Khan signed the documents on behalf of their respective organisations.

According to the agreement, the Pakistan Post will charge Rs8 per bill and transfer the remaining amount to the Wasa accounts within two days.

Earlier, private banks were given the task but the consumers had to face difficulty in depositing the bills.

A senior official of Wasa told Dawn that the banks were using delaying tactics and took a week to transfer the amount to the Wasa accounts.

The Wasa managing director told Dawn that the consumers can also pay their bills through the internet, mobile phones and banks.

He said the agency was also working hard to improve the water supply system in the city.

He said they planned to purchase new machinery besides replacing the old and rusty water supply lines to provide potable water to the consumers.A Reporter
