TOBA TEK SINGH: Jhang Nursing College principal has expelled 16 female students for staging a protest on the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital premises against their alleged harassment by some patients’ attendants on June 9. The principal said in the expulsion order that the student nurses violated the discipline of the college by staging a protest demo.
Expressing anguish over their expulsion, the affected students have appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take notice of the ‘illegal’ order of the principal, terming it an attempt to ruin their career.
The issue surfaced last week when attendants of some patients injured in a road accident allege dly misbehave d with student nurses in the hospital’s Trauma Centre.
The students had submitted a complaint in this regard to the hospital’s medical superintendent on June 4, but no action was taken, following which they had staged a protest demo on June 9, demanding protection against such harassment.
