LAHORE: Lawyers on Tuesday locked all entry gates of the sessions court in protest against registration of cases against their colleagues under anti-terrorism provisions on the complaint of the Defence Housing Authority (DH A).
The lawyers locked all four gates of the complex for several hours, including the Judges Gate and Baba Ground Gate, preventing anyone from entering the premises.
Litigants were also not allowed to enter the court, causing difficulties for people who had arrived for hearings and other legal matters.
The lawyers also stopped the prisoners’ vans as well from entering the court premises. The vans, carrying prisoners for court appearances, were forced to return without bringing them inside. The protesters did not allow the court officials to enter the premises.
The lawyers launched the protest against the inclusion of terrorism charges in the cases registered against members of the legal fraternity on the complaint of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on charges of land grabbing.
