LAHORE: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (Ruda) says land acquisition by the Punjab government in the area of Ravi Riverfront Urban DevelopmentProjectisbeing made in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act and there is no truth in reports of forcible acquisition.
`Media reports on the basis of f armers` claims that more land has been acquired forcibly in recent days in the Ferozewala tehsil area, resulting in destruction to crops on hundreds of acres, have no merit. It said payments were cleared by the Punjab Board of Revenue months ago. It is the BOR which acquires land with the help of district administration and hands it over to Ruda.
`The authority`s core business is not land acquisition, as is being claimed,` it said.
`The Ravi Riverfront City project aims at uplif t of national economy through the provision of state-of-theart residential f acilities and business opportunities.
