LAHORE: Lahore UniversityofManagement Sciences Pro-Chancellor Syed Babar Ali says a survey should be conducted to explore international market demands and standards for enhancing meat export and find out impediments involve in the process.
At a meeting with the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) vice-chancellor and professors, he called for arranging foreign visits of livestock professionals for the study of advanced farming systems/models, which can be replicated in Pakistan.
He said the UVASshould initiate a `meal programme` to resolve the malnutrition issues in Pakistan. He suggested that an entrepreneur competition of students be started to encourage them to start their own businesses.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said there was need for initiating a school milk and egg programme, in which an egg and a glass of mill( a day be given to every child to attract them to schools and improve their health, consequently solving the issue of malnutrition as well as providing market to livestock, dairy and poultry farmers for their prosperity and profitability.
