PTI leader vows to secure Imran’s release

LOWER DIR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Junaid Akbar has said that courts and democracy had lost their dignity, announcing that the party would march on Islamabad on September 27 and would not return until its demands including the release of Imran Khan were met.

He was speaking at a workers’ convention organised by the PTI youth wing Lower Dir in Timergara.

The convention was held to mobilise party workers for the planned long march.

The PTI has already announced Sept 27 as the date for the march.

Mr Junaid said that political leaders including Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif had at different times been branded as traitors. He said that those imposed on the people through ‘Form 47’ could not run the country.

He said the march towards Islamabad would be launched after careful planning, describing it as a ‘battle of nerves’.

He said the PTIwanted to reduce political hatred and resolve differences through reconciliation, but claimed that its efforts had failed and its hopes shattered.

ThePTIleaderexpressed concern over the prevailing situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rising inflation and repeated increases in petroleum and ele ctricity prices.

He alleged that ‘fascism’ prevailed in the Punjab and that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister had been subjected to unfair treatment and disrespect.

Mr Junaid said that the system could not function because ‘defeated and incompetent people’ had been imposed on the country. He said that PTI workers would stay put in Islamabad until Imran Khan was released.

PTI Lower Dir president Shah Khalid, general secretary Asif Iqbal Sadat, MNA Syed Mehboob Shah, PTI Malakand division president Sahibzada Sibghatullah, MPAs Malik Shafiullah Khan, Ubaidur Rehman, Malik Humayun Khan and Azam Khan, Youth Wing president Syed Ubaid Jan, central youth wing general secretary Mubashir and others also addressed the convention.
