LAHORE: Evacuee Trust Propeny Board Chairman Siddiqul Farooq has filed a Rs1bn suit for damages before sessions court against PPP leader Nabeel Gabol.

Mr Farooq pleads the defendant had on a television programme levelled false allegation against him claiming that he (plaintiff) had offered bribe to members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted to probe corruption allegations against the Sharif family.

The suit filed through Advocate Nasir Ahmad states the irresponsible statement of the defendant was baseless and had been made to damage reputation of the plaintiff.

However, it states, compensation in terms of money may be adjudged and the defendant be directed to pay the plaintiff Rs1bn as damages.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Ghaffar would hold first hearing of the case on Nov 28.-Staff Reporter
