Man, teenage boy shot dead in Lakki incidents

LAKKI MARWAT: Two people, including a teenage boy, were shot dead, and a minor injured in separate firing incidents in Lakki Marwat on Tuesday, the police said.

They said rivals killed Umar Abbas, 14, over an old enmity in Ghaznkhel area.

They said the deceased along with his cousin, Asad Khan, had gone to fields when Mohammad Ayaz and Ghulam Qadir opened fire on them.

The police registered a case against the killers.

Separately, a man was shot dead by his father-in-law in Wanda Shahabkhel village of Kurrum Par area.

Complainant Sharifullah told the police that wife of his brother, Kalimullah, 29, had gone to her parents` house after developing differences with him. He said Kalim was going to bring his wife, when his father-inlaw, Ghulam Dastagir and his brother, Ghulamuddin, appeared on the scene and shot him dead.

In another incident, a minor boy, Tayyab Khan, 9, was shot at and injured in Pitavee Kallay area of Naurang town.

Farmanullah, 41, told the police his son entered the house of Anwar Khan while chasing a stray kite. He said he heard a gunshot, entered the house and found Tayyab lying there injured. He said he saw Anwar armed with a pistol fleeing the place.

ORIENTATION SESSION: The districtadministration and the youth affairs department organised a session for local youth and students, especially from the Bittani tribal subdivision, in the Lakki city on Tuesday to familiarise them with the process of availing education scholarships being offered by the Chinese government and the European countries.

District youth officer Abdul Qadir said the session was meant to provide the students with accurate information about availing foreign scholarships.

SECURITY PLAN: Over 1,680 policemen will be deployed in Lakki Marwat during Muharram as the police have finalised a foolproof security plan for peaceful observance of Ashura.

An official said on Tuesday district police officer Mohammad Ashfaq Khan accorded approval to the security plan after discussions with stakeholders.

He said leaves of policemen had been cancelled and additional checking points established in the entire district, especially in Lakki city.

`Under the plan, experts of bomb disposal squad will scan the routes of mourning processions, besides CCTVs will be installed for effective surveillance of processions and majalis,` he maintained, saying commandos of Elite Force and Quick Response Force will assist police in maintenance of peace and harmony during the month.
