Delay in Kohat flyover troubles commuters

By Our Correspondent 2023-07-19
KOHAT: Commuters travelling between Kohat and Rawalpindi are forced to pass through a dirt road, which turns into mud during rains, due to inordinate delay in the construction of the Ghulam Banda flyover, which is part of the Rs21-billion Kohat-Pindigheb N-80 Expressway.

However, National Highway Authority`s project director Eng Ehtesham said the Ghulam Banda fiyover would be completed in three months. He said two weeks of asphalt work was remaining on the Nakband flyover.

He apologised to the commuters for the inconvenience caused to them.

He said the Kohat-JandPindigheb Expressway, which would ultimately lead to Rawalpindi, had cut short travel distance from 4-5 hours to two and half hours.

Mr Ehtesham said the expressway, work on which was started in 2018, would also serve as an alternate route to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor`s western alignment.

He said work on the project was started in two parts: from Kohat to Khushalgarh and Jand to Pindigheb. He elaborated that it would also link Peshawar with the Halaka-DI Khan Motorway through Indus Highway.
