LAHORE: Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar says the Punjab government is ready to provide all kinds of support to those organisations which are worl(ing for women`s rights.

He was addressing a conference entitled `Making work places dignified` convened by the Punjab ombudsperson to create awareness among women about the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010.

He said: `The government is willing to extend its help to these organisations and to the office of the Punjab ombudsperson so that any problem that the working women face can be resolved properly.

Sarwar said the Punjab ombudsperson was doing anexcellent job and the office had provided many women with speedy justice also free of cost. There are several women who are victims of workplace harassment.

He stressed that the role of women was very important for the GDP and economic development of the country. Therefore, they should speak up about their issues on every platform so that they could be addressed.

The governor said this menace of harassment could not be curbed until the women raise their voice against it.

Ombudsperson Rukhsana Gilani said: `A woman facing sexual harassment at the workplace can lodge her complaint with the ombudsperson office.

Later, an app called Ombudsperson Punjab was launched by the governor.
