Energy secy assures union of accepting demands

LAHORE: The government will take measures to overcome shortage of electricity staff in order to check fatal and non-fatal accidents of the line staff besides providing them standard safety equipment.

This assurance was given by Federal Secretary Energy Rashid Mahmood Langrial to a delegation of the All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union in a meeting held on Friday.

The delegation was headed by President Abdul Latif Nizamani along with General Secretary Khurshid Ahmad, Joint President Haji RamzanAchakzai, provincial chairman Haji Iqbal Khan, Waliur Rehman, Javed Iqbal Baloch, ImranKhanandHajiYounas.

The secretary assured that the legitimate demands of the workers would be acceptedin ordertoprovide them with safety at the workplace. He also assured the delegation that the government would take all measures for the safety of the field staff against lawless elements during the performance of their duties.

The union had informed the federal secretary that one of the major causes of fatal accidents of the line staff was requiring them to work at the risk of their lives due to staff shortage.
