Dir people protest power outages

TIMERGARA: The residents of Khall and Rabat areas held a protest rally against Peshawar Electric Supply Company for its failure to resolve the issues of low voltage and prolonged power outages.

Led by local leaders of ANP, the protesters marched on the road and chanted slogans against government and Pesco.

The local traders also observed shutter down strike against the unschedule d power load shedding.

The protesters threatened to uproot power pylons in the area if pesco failed to resolve the issues of low voltage and unscheduled loadshedding.

Addressing on the occasion, ANP district councillor Malik Mohammad Zeb, Malik Qadar Jan, Fazl Rehman and Syed Zaman demanded of the local lawmakers to resign as they failed to resolve problems being faced by residents of the district.

The speakers said that more than 20 hours power outage and low voltage forced local people to shift to other areas.

They said that people faced shortage of drinking water and business activities were affected by prolonged power outages.

Meanwhile, water supply schemes in Talash valley remained non-functional owing to low voltage and prolonged power outages.

The residents of the area demanded of authorities to take notice of the matter and make functional the water supply schemes in the area.

They said that Pesco authorities should supply full voltage of electricity at least for three hours so that people could easily fetch drinking water from their wells.
