‘Facilitators’ in shrine blast grilled: official

DADU: Hyderabad Commissioner Sajid Jamal Abro said on Wednesday the joint investigation team had extracted valuable information from suspected facilitators in the suicide blast at the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Talking to journalists after visiting the shrine and reviewing security arrangements in Sehwan on Wednesday, he said the investigation was moving ahead on the basis of this information.

He said that any development in the case would be shared with media. A high-level meeting was held in the wake of the shrine blast which discussed all matters, including security and other arrangements at the shrine, he said.

He said the investigation team had collected evidence from the blast site, which would be sent for forensic tests. DNA tests would also be conducted on the collected body parts of victims, he said.

About security arrangements, Mr Abro said that the shrine’s security plan would not be complete till all entry gates were closed and only one gate was left open for devotees. The work on registration of guesthouses and inns had started in the town, he said.

Meanwhile, adviser to Sindh chief minister on Auqaf Syed Ghulam Shah Jilani also visited the shrine and reviewed security arrangements. He said that all required security paraphernalia would be installed in the shrine to monitor movement of people and no one would be allowed to enter the shrine without thorough checking.
