KARACHI: A man and his teenage son were among three people shot at and wounded by a security guard, who resorted to firing on suspicion of presence of robbers near Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Thursday evening, said police.

Gulistan-i-Jauhar police SHO Pir Shabbir Haider said that a woman sounded an alarm about suspected robbers riding a motorcycle. The private guard resorted to firing from his 12-bore pistol, which apparently missed its target and injured three people namely Asghar Ali, 50, his son Zain Ali, 16, and Musaif Zia, 18, who were having a meal at a nearby restaurant.

The injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

The security guard had been taken into custody and further investigation was underway, said the officer.-Staff Reporter
