Helpline to be set up for students

By Kashif Abbasi 2014-12-24
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police on Tuesday decided to set up a helpline for the students of educational institutions in the city.

The helpline will be set up at Rescue 15.

“To boost the confidence level of children and their parents, it has been decided that additional telephone lines would also be opened for Rescue 15,” said a spokesman for the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD).

He said the decision was taken at a meeting held at CADD to review the security arrangements for the educational institutions.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for CADD Barrister Usman Ibrahim, IGP Tahir Alam Khan and others.

A source said during the meeting the IGP told the minister that due to the shortage of manpower the police were unable to depute personnel in all the schools.

He, however, said the police would cooperate with the FDE to ensure foolproof security measures for the institutes.

It was also decided that the IGP would soon brief all the principals of colleges and schools on the steps to be taken for security.
