FAISALABAD: Powerloom workers called off their long march on the Chief Minister House, Lahore, after an assurance by the district administration that their demands will be met within a couple of days.

A large number of agitating workers returned to their homes from Khurrianwala Chowk on Tuesday midnight.

The district administration officials held talks with the protesting workers at the Khurrianwala Chowk and assured them that issues of induction of oilman, loader and cleaner and issuance of social security cards would be resolved within two days.

Rana Riaz, an office-bearer of the Labour Qaumi Movement, told Dawn an eightmember committee had been constituted having two members each from powerloom owners, LQM, labour department and district government.-Staff Correspondent
