LAHORE: Passengers traffic between Pakistan and India through the eastern route of Wagah-Attari resumed with the departure of Delhibound Dosti Bus from Lahore on Wednesday.
Officials at the Lahore office of thePakistan Tourism Development Corporation said the Dosti Bus left its Gulberg terminal with 21 passengers at its scheduled time.
`We have received clearance from Indian authorities and Samjhota Express will leave Lahore station at 8am on Thursday (today) for Attari, said a Pakistan Railways (PR) spokesperson.
Some 200 passengers had got their seats reserved for the Feb 22 journey of Samjhota Express when its operation was cancelled in the wake of violence and arson attacksin Haryana. `Ticl(ets issued to passengers for Feb 22 would be valid for Thursday`s journey. We have no further reservations yet but expect that another 50 or so passengers will turn up tomorrow morning, said a PR officer involved in the operation of the international train that ferries passengers between Wagah and Attari on Mondays and Thursdays.
The operations of Samjhota Express and Dosti Bus from Lahore were suspended on Monday at the request of Indian authorities.
