LAHORE: Glowing tributes were paid to the late revolutionary poet, Habib Jalib, at a gathering by Fikr-i-Jalib Foundation on Friday.
Film Director Syed Noor said Jalib was not a revolutionary poet only but also a film lyricist who wrote a number of songs for films.
He said the message and ideology of Jalib should be imparted to young generation through documentaries and visual art work.
Former general secretary of Awami National Party Ahsan Wyne said Habib Jalib was a progressive leader who challenged suppression of dictatorship in thecountry. He said the struggle of Jalib was for labour class and the public.
He said Jalib never bowed down before the military dictatorship and he had never been a selling commodity.
Jalib`s daughter Tahira Jalib announced launching a research centre where the poetry of Jalib would be available for the visitors.
Punjab Institute of Language Art Director General Dr Sughran Sadaf, Farrukh Sohail Goendi, Neelam Ahmad Bashir, Naseem Akhter and poet Baba Najami also spoke.
There were also a few dance performances to the poetry of Jalib and a cake was also cut to celebrate 89th birthday of the late revolutionary poet.
