`Attack` on police team Two dacoity, rape suspects `killed by their accomplices`

OKARA: Two suspects, who were in custody on physical remand in a dacoity-cum-rape case, were allegedly killed in the firing by their own accomplices, who attacked the police to free them on Thursday night and fled away, near 47/D in the limits of Dipalpur Sadar police.

As per the first information report (FIR) a team of Dipalpur Sadar police led by Sub Inspector(SI) Ghulam Rasool was returning from a site along with two suspects on physical remand, Nasir Ali Kharl and Aurangzeb, after recovery of cash and other items, in connection with a dacoity-cumrape case (FIR no 553/24),registeredunder sections 375 A, 376 and 3920fthePakistanPenal Code (PPC).

SI Ghulam Rasool onwireless informed another police party patrolling the area that near Bukwala pul on Pipli Pehar road, four unidentified armed men on two motorcycles opened fire on the police van and freed the two handcuffed suspects.

He said the attackers were heading towards Bhatta Chowk on 47/D road and police were chasing them.

On receiving this message, the other police team rushed to the spot where the fleeing suspects were firing on the police party already chasing them.

The police made announcements on megaphone asking the suspects to surrender, but they kept on firing. At this, the police returned the fire.

After sometime, when firing from the suspects` side stopped, the police searched the area, finding the two handcuffedsuspects lying dead there.

As per the police, Nasir Kharl, was currently residing at Jammon Wachhal village in Dipalpur tehsil and Aurangzeb Qureshi at Sheikh Ka100 585-GB village in Jaranwala tehsil.

Police claimed they were killed in the firing by their own accomplices.

The police found a motorcycle near the bodies that might have been left by the fleeing accomplices of the two dead suspects.

The four unidentified persons, who had attacked the police to free Nasir and Aurangzeb, managed their escape in the darkness of the night, the FIR says.

On the report of SI Jehanzeb Hakim, Dipalpur Sadar police have registered a case under sections 302, 353, 324,224,225,186 and 34 of the PPC.
