LAHORE: A team of the Sui Northern Gas Company Limited Lahore region on Friday disconnected gas supply to the official residences of Punjab Assembly deputy speaker and ministers for prisons and cooperatives for defaulting.

The team also suspended gas supply to the Punjab University, Central Jail and the DIG Office.

The team removed gas meters after the Punjab University, Central Jail, deputy speaker, minister for prisons, minister for cooperatives and DIG Office failed to pay their bills worth Rs4.5 million, Rs2.8 million, over Rs1 million, Rs0.5 million, Rs1.1 million and Rs0.5 million, respectively. The team, however, failed to disconnect connections of the IG office, various officers in GOR and influential people.

Reports said the SNGPL had given a task to the Lahore region to recover Rs2.5 billion from defaulters.
