PESHAWAR: Tribal Talba Mahaz has demanded of the government to conduct inquiry into the alleged corruption and illegal recruitments in the recently established Fata University in Dar Adamkhel.

Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Tribal Talba Mahaz president Zubair Afridi said that appointments on different posts in Fata University had been made in violation of merit and without following rules and regulations. He alleged that corruption was also on its peak in the university.

Mr Afridi alleged that an official at the university was involved in the illegal appointments. He said that government should probe the matter. He said that students discussed issue with Fata University Vicechancellor Dr Tahir during a meeting, but he didn`t take any action against the concerned official.

Accompanied by TTM leaders Malik Siraj Afridi, Farooq Shah Bangash,Iftikhar Dawar, Hafeezur Rehman, Arshad Afridi and others, Mr Afridi said that they had enough evidence about the illegal recruitments in the university. He said that the evidence would be shared with the authorities during investigation of the case.

The TTM chief said that tribal people should be given priority during appointments in Fata University. He added that neglecting local people was sheer injustice with terrorIsm-affected people of Fata.

Mr Afridi said that according to a notification of Fata Secretariat, tribal people should be appointed on priority basis in development projects in tribal region. He said the rule was violated during execution of different development schemes in Fata.

The TTM chief said that tribesmen had potential to excel in every field. They should be provided with opportunities to utilise their abilities in efficient manner, he added. Bureau Report
